How to Compare Two Text Files

Steps
- Add the original text to the left panel.

- Choose case sensitivity, whitespace, and wrapping options.

What to Check
- Use line-level comparison for code and logs.
- Use character-level highlights for prose, identifiers, and small edits.
- Check line endings and encoding when an entire file appears changed.
When This Workflow Helps
This workflow is useful before a deployment, document handoff, content publication, data import, or QA sign-off. It gives reviewers a compact record of what changed without requiring a desktop suite or command-line setup. For structured formats, review the semantic meaning of the changes after the visual diff; for text formats, confirm that formatting noise is not hiding the important edit.
Limits
Text comparison shows textual changes. It does not decide whether an edit is factually correct or whether two different sentences have the same meaning.
